July – Delphinium – symbolizes the feeling of lightness and levity.
August – Gladiola – Glads are symbolic of strength and moral integrity. The Latin word for sword is “gladius”.
September – Aster – symbolizes elegance and talis, man of love.
October – Marigold – is symbolic of late-harvest warmth, affection and grace.
November – Chrysanthemum- is a symbol of the sun, signifying optimism and happiness.
December – Poinsetta - is also known for Christmas flower, symbolic of good cheer and merriment.

Sending Funeral Flowers

Did you realize that it is always appropriate to send sympathy floral gifts even if you hear the news after the funeral? Sympathy flowers can be sent either to the funeral home or to the family members.

Even if the funeral is out of state and you don’t know what to send, you can simply ask the local florist who delivers the floral gift to fill it “according to local customs”. This way you don’t have to worry with what is appropriate. They will decide to send what is suited for the service.

To give an idea on what the costs can be, typically sympathy floral gifts will range from $45 to $150+. Of course if the funeral is local or it is practical to carry the floral gift with you, you can make the arrangement yourself, however; this idea can also be costly considering buying the vase, flowers, card, etc.

Another helpful tip is not to worry about what message to write on the card. Most sympathy cards has a pre-printed message and it is acceptable just to sign your name or more than one name if the floral gift is from someone besides yourself.

Floral gifts are so common for people to give, however; the deep emotion that floral gifts can create is so powerful! Furthermore, floral gifts are the simple solution to the age old question of ” What kind of gift can I give?

Flowers are given for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, thank-yous, welcoming a new baby, graduations, congratulations, and funerals. Do you know anyone that don’t like to receive flowers?

Flowers are one of nature’s marvelous beauties. The colors are so brilliant and many times, so bold! The fragance of so many types of flowers enhances our senses and can produce a sense of calmness to our emotions. In olden days, having a bath tub was a great luxury, and most people were not able to get a bath or shower as easily as can be done today, so unpleasant body odors were a way of life. Therefore, bridal bouquets were carried by the upper class brides to cover up for this bad odor! This is simply not the case today. Flowers enhance the bride and the wedding with all the beauty they bring.

Not only do floral gifts exhibit beauty and pleasant odors, floral gifts definitely speak to our love language. Giving gifts, such as floral gifts is one of the “five love languages” each individual desires.
